Drug NameDiflucan (fluconazole)
Drug UsesDiflucan treatment and certain yeast and fungal infections must stop. Also can be used for other conditions as prescribed by your doctor.
How to use
At least 2 hours of proton pump inhibitors (eg omeprazole) before you take Diflucan. Diflucan used by the physician.
To delete your infection completely, take Diflucan for the treatment of the full course.
Take Diflucan by mouth with or without food. The exact dosing instructions on the label to check the drug. Taking even if you keep feeling better within a few days.
Diflucan works best when it is taken at the same time every day. Do not miss any doses.
Drug Class and MechanismIt interferes with the formation of fungal cell membranes kills sensitive fungi. Diflucan is the azole antifungal.
Missed Dose If you miss a dose of Diflucan, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Diflucan May interact with some drugs. Talk to your healthcare provider if you are taking other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Aldosterone (eg, eplerenone) blockers, amiodarone, astemizole, cisapride, pimozide, serotonin receptor (eg, eletriptan) agonists, macrolide antibiotics (eg erythromycin), quinolines (eg, ciprofloxacin), or terfenadine because the risk of serious heart rhythm abnormalities (eg QT prolongation) may be extended
- Because some eye problems (eg, uveitis) may increase the risk of Rifabutin
- Macrolide immunosuppressants (eg tacrolimus) because risk of kidney problems may be extended
- Rifampicin or proton pump inhibitors (eg omeprazole) because they "may reduce the effectiveness of Diflucan
- (Eg warfarin), anticoagulants, benzodiazepines (eg alprazolam), buspirone, carbamazepine, cyclophosphamide, cyclosporine (eg, ergotamine), alkaloids, haloperidol ergot, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or "statins" (eg, simvastatin), as hydantoins (phenytoin), methadone, muscarinic (eg solifenacin tolterodine, hot), drugs (eg codeine), ramelteon sulfonylurea (eg, glipizide), theophylline, or tricyclic (eg, antidepressants, amitriptyline) may be at higher risk for adverse events is increased because of Diflucan. Do not use Diflucan if:
- You are allergic to Diflucan Component
- You astemizole, aldosterone blocker (eg, eplerenone), cisapride, ergot alkaloids (eg, ergotamine), erythromycin, pimozide (5-HT1) receptor agonist (eg, eletriptan), serotonin, or taking terfenadine
