- (Eg warfarin), anticoagulants, aldosterone blockers (eg, spironolactone), alfentanil, arsenic, astemizole, benzodiazepines (eg alprazolam), bromocriptine, buspirone, carbamazepine, cilostazol, cisapride clozapine, corticosteroids (eg hydrocortisone), cyclosporine, digitoxin, digoxin, disopyramide (eg ergotamine), alkaloids, felodipine, (eg, diphenhydramine), H 1 antagonists, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (eg lovastatin), imatinib, macrolide immunosuppressants (eg tacrolimus), meglitinide (diabetes drugs repaglinide, such as ergot), midazolam, phosphodiesterase 5 (eg, sildenafil), pimozide, rifampin, such as quinidine, sotalol QT-long (the agent), quinolones (eg ciprofloxacin), serotonin reuptake inhibitors (eg fluoxetine), sumatriptan, theophyllines inhibitor type, tricyclics (eg amitriptyline), anti-depressants, valproic acid, or vinca alkaloids (eg vincristine), because of their side effects may increase the risk of Erythromycin
Some medical conditions may interact with erythromycin. Do not use Erythromycin if:
- You are allergic to erythromycin component;
- You astemizole, cisapride, cyclosporin, diltiazem, dofetilide you, alkaloids (eg, ergotamine), ergot, HIV protease inhibitors (eg ritonavir), imidazoles (eg ketoconazole), pimozide, QT prolonging agents (eg, quinidine, sotalol), (eg ciprofloxacin) quinolones, streptogramins (eg quinupristin, dalfopristin /), sumatriptan, terfenadine, or verapamil. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal or dietary supplement you are taking
- If you have medicine, food, or are allergic to other substances
- If you have diarrhea or a stomach or intestinal infections
- If you have kidney or liver disease, heart problems, fast or irregular heartbeat, myasthenia, or have had a blood disorder called porphyria
Erythromycin May interact with some drugs.
