Warnings/PrecautionsDo not use Nizoral:
- You are allergic to a component Nizoral
- You brain membranes (fungal meningitis) is a fungal disease
- Aldosterone blocker (eg, eplerenone) is taken, astemizole, cisapride, conivaptan, dofetilide, ergot derivatives (eg, ergotamine), erythromycin, midazolam, nevirapine, pimozide (eg, alfuzosin) quinazoline, quinidine, rifabutin, rifampin, terfenadine, triazolam, or 5-HT receptor agonist (eg, eletriptan)
Contact your doctor or health care provider immediately if any of these apply to you.
Some medical conditions may interact with Nizoral. Talk to your healthcare provider if you are taking other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Many prescription and nonprescription (such as drugs used to treat infection, HIV, seizures, anxiety, sleep disturbances, heartburn, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, high blood pressure, allergies, heart rhythm disturbances, pain, blood thinning, asthma, migraine, mood or mental problems , cancer, prostate problems, immune system suppression, erectile dysfunction, urinary problems, or [Birth Control] birth control), multivitamin products, and herbal or dietary supplements interact with Nizoral, may increase the risk of serious side effects
- Nevirapine, rifabutin, or rifampin because they "may reduce the effectiveness of Nizoral
- Astemizole, cisapride, dofetilide, erythromycin, pimozide, quinidine, or terfenadine because the risk of serious cardiovascular effects can be enhanced
- Midazolam or triazolam because their actions and their side effects may increase the risk of Nizoral, sedation and breathing difficulties are at increased risk
- Aldosterone blockers (eg, eplerenone), conivaptan (eg, ergotamine), alkaloids, quinazolines (eg, alfuzosin) or 5-HT agonists (eg, eletriptan) because the risk of these side effects may be increased by Nizoral ergot
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal or dietary supplement you are taking
- If you have medicine, food, or are allergic to other substances
- If you have any other anti-fungal agents (eg itraconazole) are allergic to
- If you have less stomach acid (eg, hypochlorhydria) is
